I was born and raised in Beijing China. I came to the United States with my parents in 1986, when I was 15 years old. As a young immigrant, I worked extremely hard to overcome the language barrier. After completing high school in Maryland, I attended the University of Rochester on a full scholarship. Upon receiving my B.S. and M.S. in Electrical Engineering, with a minor in Economics, I was hired by Delco Electronics as an IC (Integrated Circuit) Development Engineer in 1995.
During my eleven year career, I have worked on the sourcing, development, and qualification of many integrated circuits (ICs) for car audio systems. My key contributions include helping Delphi to become the first Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) to introduce both XM and Sirius Satellite Radios in cars.
Due to my unique background, I am fluent in both Mandarin Chinese and English. From my line of work, I have gained valuable experience in the semiconductor and automotive business. I am part of the development team that constantly brings cutting edge semiconductor technologies to Delphi.
Starting September 2004, I began teaching a Mandarin Chinese class after work to interested Delphi employees through the company training program. Despite having little prior teaching experience, my class was a great success. All of my students enjoyed the class and developed profound interest in Chinese language and culture. I realized in today’s globalized world, my language skills, coupled with my engineering training, could serve the needs of many.
